Frequently Asked Questions

The following information is provided for general guidance only and does not constitute medical, legal, or financial advice. All services are subject to our Terms and Conditions, available upon request.

I have a cancer diagnosis and would like to use the House of Brìghde approach to address this. Can the clinic help?

The House of Brìghde does not refuse clients on the basis of a cancer diagnosis. We may provide supportive services aimed at improving general health, quality of life, and resilience, and at reducing recurrence risk through evidence-informed nutrition, lifestyle, and holistic practices.

However, we must emphasise that:

  • Our services are complementary to, and not a substitute for, conventional oncology care provided by your licensed medical team.
  • We do not provide direct cancer treatment, recommend the cessation of prescribed therapies, or advise on the use of unlicensed medicines, “repurposed” drugs, or unproven alternative treatments for the purpose of curing cancer.
  • Clients are strongly advised to maintain active follow-up with their consultant oncologist or general practitioner.

I want to optimise my performance as an elite athlete. Can the House of Brìghde assist with this?

While optimising nutrition, improving sleep quality, reducing stress, and modulating inflammation are beneficial for all individuals, our current service model is not designed to provide tailored, high-performance sports optimisation programmes for elite athletes.
We are actively exploring service expansion to include specialist sports performance support in the future. At present, all advice provided should be considered general wellness support, not sports medicine.

Do you replace or act as my primary care physician?

No. The House of Brìghde operates as a complementary and integrative wellness service. We do not replace the role of your GP, consultant, or any licensed healthcare professional who is responsible for your primary or specialist medical care. You must retain a registered medical practitioner for the ongoing management of your health.

Do you prescribe medication?

Unless specifically stated otherwise and provided by a licensed prescriber associated with our clinic, we do not issue prescriptions for pharmaceutical medicines. Where supplements, nutraceuticals, or herbal products are recommended, these are offered within applicable UK legal frameworks and should be discussed with your GP or pharmacist prior to use.

Are your services regulated?

Certain aspects of our services are delivered by UK-licensed medical doctors and allied health professionals, who are subject to their respective professional regulatory bodies (e.g., General Medical Council, Health and Care Professions Council, Nursing and Midwifery Council).

The House of Brìghde is also:

  • A Member of the Complementary Medical Association (CMA).
  • An Executive Member of the International Practitioners of Holistic Medicine (IPHM).

In addition, The House of Brìghde is currently undergoing registration with Health Improvement Scotland (HIS) as a recognised healthcare facility. Upon completion, the organisation will be subject to inspection and regulatory oversight by HIS in accordance with applicable Scottish healthcare legislation.

Our holistic and complementary practitioners operate within recognised professional standards and codes of conduct, and while certain complementary disciplines are not statutorily regulated in the UK, we hold all practitioners to rigorous internal standards of competence, ethics, and client safety.

What is your cancellation and refund policy?

Cancellations must be made in writing to our administration team.

  • For appointments: Cancellations made more than 48 hours before the scheduled time will receive a full refund.
  • For retreats and workshops: Cancellation terms will be specified at the time of booking and may vary according to venue and supplier policies. Non-refundable deposits may apply.
Refunds will not be provided for failure to attend without notice.

What should I expect during my first consultation?

Your initial consultation will involve a detailed review of your health history, current symptoms, lifestyle, and goals. We may request access to relevant medical records and/or recent test results to ensure safe and appropriate recommendations. All information provided will be kept confidential in accordance with our Privacy Policy and UK data protection legislation.

Are your services safe for people with pre-existing health conditions?

Our recommendations are tailored to individual needs, and we take care to avoid contraindications. Nevertheless, any significant changes to diet, exercise, or supplementation should be discussed with your primary care provider, particularly if you have a chronic health condition, are pregnant, breastfeeding, or taking prescribed medication.

Do you guarantee results?

No. While we aim to provide evidence-informed, high-quality wellness services, individual outcomes vary and are influenced by multiple factors beyond our control. We do not guarantee any specific result, cure, or improvement.

How do you handle client confidentiality?

We comply fully with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018. Personal and medical information will not be disclosed to third parties without your written consent, except where required by law or where there is an immediate risk of harm.

Please see full privacy & confidentiality policy.
